Welcome
Dear Reader,
It is my pleasure in welcoming you to this, the first issue of
our office magazine.
The idea of putting this publication together has been in the
planning stage for many months. However due to some reason or other
we never got around to putting together our first issue.
Finally here it is. The aim of this publication are many. However,
the most important of these are:
keeping in touch with our clients and presenting the latest news
in the commercial and fiscal field
It is hoped that we shall achieve our aim and that you will find
this first issue, as well as the others that will follow, of interest.
All the information published in this magazine will be in a brief
form. We know you have precious little time to dedicate to reading.
However, should you wish further details, you are welcome to get
in touch with our office where one of our specialists will be able
to help you.
Although great care will be taken to ensure that all the material
published will be correct, we cannot accept any responsibility
for any inaccuracy that may appear from time to time. Therefore
before you act on any information found here, you are urged to
seek professional advice.
This publication will be limited to digital form only but you
can always download and print a copy should you wish to.
We look forward to receiving your feed-back and material for publication

Office News
New Members
The partners and staff recently welcomed two new additions to
our ever growing family. These are Christian Farrugia and Cristina
Alessandro. Both are in their second year at the University following
the B. Com. Course.
Qualification
The year 2000 was a big milestone in the firm’s short history.
During this year we received the good news that all four members
for our staff who have set for their finals, were successful in
their efforts.
The four newly qualified accountants are:
Christian Vella ……B.Accty(Hons)
Neville Cutajar……B.Accty(Hons)
Marion Micallef…..MIA
Jennifer Attard……B. Accty.(Hons)
This year also we are proud to announce that another three of
our team have qualified. These are:
Clive Farrugia…….B. Accty(Hons)
Brian Borg………..B Accty(Hons)
Conrad Borg……..ACCA
All the above personnel are well known to our clients since they
form the back bone of our hard working and successful team.
Their success is even more impressive when one considers that
all have continued to work at our office on full or part time basis
during the whole course, even through their study phase.

M.G.I. news
The annual general meeting of M.G.I. scheduled to be held at ACAPULCO,
in Mexico, between the 2nd and 6th October, 2001,
had to be cancelled following the events on 11th September in the
USA.
Our feelings go to our associated office in Mexico city which for
the past two years must
have invested untold number of hours in the preparations leading
up to this, the most important event in the MGI calendar.
These meetings normally prove a very valid forum wherein the members
of our International organization meet and exchange knowledge
and ideas.
The dreadful events of 11th September, 2001 will be remembered
in history as a day of shame. Our condolences go to our associates
in the UNITED STATES and the friends and families of the victims.
Let not these events be ever forgotten.

Price Club Lesson
What happened to the Price Club company is now history.
However, the best lessons for man come from history. So let us
all learn something from this sorry event that is having repercussions
not only on the
Companies involved, but on the whole economy of the island.
Perhaps in future all local traders will become more aware of
the need to be informed before undertaking any business deal that,
at first glance, may appear to be a gold mine.
Since the enactment of the new COMPANIES ACT in 1995, no creditor
has any excuse for not knowing the financial state of his debtor
companies. The accounts are available for inspection to all.
Businessmen who are unable to interpret the accounts that are
available, should consult their accountants before transacting
any deal with any company with which they are not familiar.
Remember that impressive visiting cards, letter heads and titles
are just that.
