Location of Servers |
|
Q. For a company licenced to carry out E-gaming activities from Malta, can we have our servers located outside of Malta?
A. All the equipment that contains either the game software or the players' data base need be located in Malta.
Other equipment such as those aimed at enhancing speed of delivery of service need not be located in Malta. Disaster recovery back up equipment may also be located in another country.
The Lotteries and Gaming Authority places great emphasise on this issue and carries out regular checks on the location where such servers are said to be housed.
All equipment used in any E-gaming activity from Malta is sealed by the authority to ensure against tampering. All maintenance and upgrading of such equipment need to be notified to the Authority which can insist on the presence of its personnel when equipment is being accessed.
